The Builders Collective was an idea that came about as result of reading a book called Common Space: Beyond Virtual Community – Seize the Power of the Collective by Mark Surman and Darren Wershler-Henry when it was released a number of years ago. As I have experienced a little bit of what they write about in the community that has formed around the development of Textpattern, I wanted to give something back to that community that has helped me as a designer to get beyond the coding and technical barriers to creating effective websites and passing over control of those websites to their owners.
The plan is to help designers to realize the potential of open source applications like Textpattern to open new areas of opportunity in web design and development.
This will also be a repository of ideas, techniques and code for building a better world wide web.
