Secure File Storage at Strongspace
I signed up as the first paid customer of Strongspace as a beta user on July 30th before the site went live a couple days later and have since been testing integration with Basecamp. It works wonderfully well and I can foresee using this service indefinitely. The one thing that worried me was the price for multiple users. But the light just went on when I visited the Strongspace site to review their plans again. I missed the very important information about the number of download users that can be created for each plan. I had thought I would need to be paying at least $70 per month to enable 10 users to enable upload and download privileges for my clients. This would be true if I wanted to provide upload privileges to a select group of clients.
I apparently did not read far enough. The number of download users is unlimited for all accounts. How did I miss that? So, theoretically, I could have two users: myself as administrator and a public user with privileges locked to a public directory, if I like. Clients would be able to download from their own protected directories, but could upload to a public directory, which would remain accessible only by clients.
For two users and 6GiB of secure storage space, US $16 per month is sounding like a bargain. Now, if Basecamp would allow multiple settings for SFTP uploads and downloads, integration would be complete. Download paths could be secured for each client, and uploads could be directed toward the public space.
